Veggieworld 2018 in Brussels

I always love it, when so many like minded people come together at such a great event and so I always make it a high priority in my agenda to attend.

This was the second edition (see previous edition review over here) and I found it slightly bigger compared to last year (this year I counted 78 exhibitors compared to 70 exhibitors last year, again with a big variety of proposals), which is great!

Everything was again organized by EVA and they did really an amazing job!

Veggieworld feels for me quite an international event, not necessarily reflecting what is concretely happening in Belgium in the plant based movement. 50% of the exhibitors are international ones. I know quite a lot of startups and smaller businesses, that clearly said that they could not afford to be at Veggieworld unfortunately. This is for me today also the main differentiator between ‘Vegan Summer Fest’ and ‘Veggieworld’(what’s in the name).

I’ve from my side, again tried to do my part as well, by promoting true the day HappyCow, so that when people go outside the event, into Brussel city, they will still have an easy way to find great Vegan and Vegetarian places to eat!

I’m personally mainly interested in what is happening in Belgium, so here is an overview of what I found on the floor and think are Belgium companies.

Of course, for clothes, I went to see the booth of my lovely soulmate

In the hall, there is also a Zero Waste exhibition to which you have access, on there I saw these interesting Belgium booths.

On Sunday there was a great inspirational talk from Hermes Sanctorum, I loved it and that was unfortunately stopped by the organization. I happened to be there because I was early for the talk of 11h and this one did not appear in the program guide that I printed out. Hope to one day be able to catch a full talk of Hermes. Will definitely check out the book!

Compared to last year, I really missed the ‘koffiekoeken’ from Frimout in the morning!

A must do event for people who want to have and try a plant based experience!
