Raw food vegan provided me a life changing experience!
Quite often I receive the question, what changed, explain?
Well, everything changed!
I’ll try to evaporate them all on this blog, now if you wonder how it influence some subjects that you might wonder and that I didn’t cover yet, please ask and reach out, more than welcome!

For 35 years I’ve heard that this was ‘the key’, think positive, be positive.
If I think positive, positive things will happen to me.
Live is nice with a glass half full of water, rather than with a glass half empty...
Keep a positive attitude was said to me over and over again…
I understood that, saw some truth in that, now on the practical side of that, it just didn’t work.
I was somebody very much in the head, think a lot and can pretty good concentrate on things.
Now concentrating on this positive side as well as I wished, it just would not work.
It would work great for a very limited period, and then the door would come back hard in my face, making me doubt about how that could work.
I would quite often hear;
It’s genetic -> my family was always negative, so I’ll be as well.
It’s cultural -> where I live everybody is negative, how can I be positive in that?
It’s the weather -> where I live it is always raining (is it or is that my perception of it?), with such a weather I cannot be positive.
...
What if it was energetic?
Meaning that it might have something to do with source that nourishes our energy levels.
The root of our energy comes from air, water and food.
Take one of the 3 out of it, I might have difficulties getting my energy level (depending on my activity) and on a longer term (depending on which one, with air it goes quite fast) I might even have difficulties to survive.
So let’s take a closer look to them;
Air
I know, it’s all over the news, studies show it over and over again, the quality of the air is not good. When I go to areas where there are a lot of trees (who filter the air) and where there is no industry, I can feel that I feel way better than in all those industrialized cities.
Water
What is clean water today? The ones coming from the mountains of snow that has been created in our very polluted air? The one from the sea where we put all our waste in and get all living creatures out like fish and such? When I get the occasion of drinking pure source water, even if it still is water, I can taste the difference.
Food
The milk I drink comes from a cow that makes it for me? No, I get my arm in the cow, to make it pregnant, to get rid of the baby cow in order so that I can drink milk.
The meat and fish, I raise animals in a captive environment (they are definitely not free), to assure them, I take care of them with only one goal, to kill them and eat them.
The eggs, I get them from farms where these chickens are like machines working for me.
Do I see all the above as peaceful and positive energy?
Some that crossed my path, even said that if we would have made sure to keep these energies all positive, war would never have existed… (strong words, history is what it is, now I do see some sense in it…).
All these acts of violence (whether I do it or the slaughterhouse or milk farms do it for me, they are identically the same) are set in my primary energy level.
If there is so much aggression in that primary part of my life, isn't possible that this negative energy is coming into me and leaves me defenseless to get it out of me?
4 years ago, I started to take care of those energies for me unconsciously, for other reasons and especially in the food, removing all of them step by step.
It is only 4 years out of my life, I can say that up till now, I’ve never felt better, so positive for so long and so good!
So maybe the food habits are a good direction to start, it was for me!
Since my food changing habits, my interest, in knowing more of great inspiring people has increased tremendously. I’ve always heard so much positive things about Mahatma Gandhi and recently it caught my attention that more and more people made reference to him. This made me conclude that I had to search for a book about him and learn more about him, my curiosity was stimulated. There are quite several ones available, now ‘An autobiography; The Story Of My Experiments With Truth’ caught most of my attention and I decided to go for that one.
I’ve read already several Autobiographies from different people, now this one was very special to me. When I read it, it felt so open, human, no secrets, kind... in a language that I would imagine Mahatma Gandhi to speak and so it really felt like a meet up. It was really like while I was reading the book, he sits beside me telling his story. Really felt like I was just sitting there and listening to what he says so beautifully.
It is sometimes a bit confusing and hard to follow for me as a European, with all the names of his Indian friends, or Indian persons he met on his path and that are quite hard to remember. This of course doesn’t cause any influence on the book itself, the content is still there, even without being able to set all the links between the people concretely.
His knowledge of the human race with quotes such as ‘‘It shows how powerfully the physical in man reacts to the psychological.’ and ‘‘The people are not by nature violent, they are peaceful’ shows what a wise man he was. His vows for his basic principles, sticking with them under any circumstances and his dedication to public service and the Ashram can only be admired.
His simple way of living, his dedication to service, the principles of truth and non-violence are really the beauty of him as a person. It is also what has provided him ineffable mental peace. Secretly, I would have hoped he had inspired even more people than he has done till now and that we would live in a world where his example would become the standard of how people live and behave.
His way of living ‘Ahimsa’ (a religious or spiritual, philosophical concept of nonviolence and respect for all life, it is usually interpreted as showing peace and awe for all sentient beings.) is so magical, that I might think quite some time should be spent with our children in school to learn and teach about this. It took me 39 years to get in contact with it and it was quite a search unfortunately.
And of course, his sense of food being plant based, mainly fruits is something nice to read, now I don’t really need any further inspiration in there.
Just hearing about Ahimsa and the examples Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr at school, might to my opinion bring us to a specious with a higher level of consciousness.
What more do we need after inspiring people like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr and so many more showed the example?
I used to work with etiquettes in the past, which were most of the time digital, so 1 or 0, I’m in, or I’m not, I eat raw or I don't eat raw, I’m vegan or I’m not vegan, there is no in between. Over time I learned that it doesn’t work that way for me and it is just a too high weight on the shoulders. I feel that knowing for myself that I try at every given moment do the best I can, works way better and is much more appropriate. There will always be a different or (better).
I’m not saying that I do just randomly as I feel, it is more that, I know what is best for me, I will try to strive to do that all the time, now if at a certain point I cannot do that, then I’m fine with that. Of course I’m not talking about animal hurting here, it’s not like for that one day I’ll eat meat, meat and everything related to animal suffering is really out of the question. It’s more like, if the family wants to eat a cooked plant based lasagna, do I eat with them or really insist on eating my raw food alternative only in order to strive to do it 100%.
In the beginning I used to eat raw food alternative only. Since I knew how good it is for me, I really thought it was the only way forward and the only possibility.
I’ve eaten cooked vegan food before, so what will that one time change? Can certainly be seen as an attitude of being weak. For me it is not about weak or strong, it’s about at a given time, do everything I can, that I feel is best for me and that attitude made my life way easier.
That experience also convinced me even further in my strong preference for raw food. It really allowed me to compare very directly different ways of eating and the behaviour they have on me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requires good shewing | No real shewing required
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very strong specific taste of the ingredients | Overall taste, difficult to get out
Natural feel when have enough | Easy risk of overeating
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stable body weight | With the above easy to get
| overweight
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No smell when cooking | Heavy smell for environment
| getting into the clothes
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Need to eat slow and take time | Can go fast and be swallowed
| directly quite often
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Natural food high in containing water | Often thirsty after eating
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Easy to eat at different times and | Difficult conservation and
Often easy tools to create (besides a | Requires special tools for every
power blender maybe) | dish using quite some energy | (electricity)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cooking dishes quite easy to clean | Cleaning of tools and dishes can
So for me, I’m more than 100% convinced that raw food has much more advantages in all kinds of directions over the cooked alternative. Does it mean I never eat cooked food? No, not at all, I’m not really naturally attracted to it and if I’ve a raw food alternative I’ll go definitely for that one . Now sometimes circumstances quite often social, so a family, friends, colleague... diner or just a new tasting experience makes me go for cooked vegan food. At those moments I try to be 100% present, have the experience and feel all the effects it has on my taste and body.
Nothing above the great plant based whole raw food for me!
As a kid, I loved to play outside, found all these places from fields, hills, pits...covered with grass, flowers, trees, bushes... lovely places. It never really came to my attention that it is nature that is behind all this. I found them so normal around me that it felt like something that is everywhere and humans just create this.
I really grew up with a feeling that as humans we are the strongest, the smartest… and the real survivors of all this. I can clone myself, replace anything on my body… and we constantly find new solution to progress on that, manage us to live longer, aren't we a great species? Aren’t we stronger than nature?
This is what I used to believe, now today I’m really not at all in line with that believe anymore.
Especially when I see what kind of diseases we’ve today, diseases we are the own creators off and can’t find something to avoid these diseases. We are still in research on them in order to find things that can hide the symptoms of it, the way of prevention looks like even further away.
What I found out by changing my food habits is, that the more I eat what feels like naturally grown for me, the more the strength and magical side of nature becomes obvious.
My previous attitude on earth, like if everything is permitted and humans are in control of everything, doesn’t feel like so sure anymore to me.
What I feel, is that on earth everything is allowed and nature will do everything that is in his strength to make sure everything gets regulated, try to neutralize these things. The universe consists of two forces, that are opposite and complementary, life and death, night and day, dark and light, cold and hot, positive and negative,... So, for everything that I hurt the earth, which is what I think the positive side, I have to accept that nature will do everything it can to get away from the hurt, creating perhaps a large negative side for me and find the balance on earth again.
I find it amazing that nature is showing so many amazing things to us for our benefit. Everything we need is right there, and we just look up the other side trying to find out how we can make a smartphone, lighter, last longer….and probably even more addicted than it already is. What serves us, best as a species?
I believe, nature will always find the balance without effort. All nature happenings, are not natural disasters, they are just naturally regularisations, which today I cannot understand why they happen and I didn’t read or find anyone that can explain them to me. So is the human the smartest creatures on earth? What is smart? I have my doubts about it. Why do quite some animals know when a tsunami comes and are the humans the latest averted about this? I strongly believe I lost connection with nature and I’m really determined to get it back. A food change, feels today like a really good start for me for that.
“Live is a mission on earth for all living creatures, we can destroy it or make the best of it.”- unknown.
